Deere Tractors To Mention Their Origin In Greeneville

Greeneville will start getting a special mention with new John Deere lawn tractors, starting in late December.

A company press release said, "The 100 Series Lawn Tractor models will be delivered to John Deere dealerships nationwide and will feature a special tag hanging from the steering wheel that establishes the proud assembly in Greeneville."

John Deere Power Products' plant in Greeneville manufactures the entire 100 Series -- eight models -- that are delivered to dealerships and national retailers.

The facility has been operating for 20 years in the Greeneville community and employs approximately 700 people including contingent workers.

"We're excited and appreciative that Greeneville will be acknowledged as part of John Deere's heritage on a national level," said Dave Smith, the plant's manager.

He added, "We strive to reflect the company's core values and are proud to be recognized as a key member of John Deere's domestic manufacturing."
