Dr. Terry Howard has joined the family practice group at Takoma Medical Associates.

Howard, who is board-certified in family medicine, received his medical degree from Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience College of Osteopathic Medicine in Missouri.

He performed a rotating internship at Florida Hospital East in Orlando; and residencies in family and general practice at the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, Texas; and Nova Southeastern University of Health Sciences, Health Professional Division, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

"I enjoy all aspects of family medicine," Howard said in a news release. "I am especially passionate about obesity and smoking cessation," he added. "I love to help people lose weight, stop smoking and try to achieve optimal health."

Howard is from Decatur, Ill. He spent the past few years in Central Florida before moving to Greeneville. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians.

He lives in Greeneville with his wife, Seon Young, and his daughter, Brittany, who attends Greeneville Adventist Academy. His other daughter, Ashley, attends Fletcher Academy in North Carolina. They attend the Greeneville Seventh-day Adventist Church.

He enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, canoeing, traveling and performing missions work.

Howard's office is on the first floor of the Takoma Medical Associates building, 438 E. Vann Road, across from Greeneville Middle School.
