Golden Nails and Gifts, which opens Monday, Aug. 6, is a nail salon that endeavors to give special, individualized attention to its customers and create a unique, spa-like experience.

Owner Andy Tran, who also owns and operates the popular Q Nails salon in the Greeneville Commons, says he hopes to offer his customers the best of everything in his new salon, at 505 Tusculum Blvd.

To achieve this goal, Tran explains, he has outfitted the new location with equipment that is top-of-the-line in the nail industry.

For example, he points out, the new nail-drying stations use LED light, not harmful UV rays, to dry nail polish in 30 seconds.

This allows a much quicker drying time for the customer, as it previously took up to 30 minutes to fully dry the polish with the UV dryers.

The pedicure station includes Zero Gravity massage chairs that give customers a full-body massage as they receive their pedicure.

Employee Donna Repass said that the goal is, when customers leave Golden Nails, to have the customers "not just look better, but feel better."

This high standard, Tran says, is shown in the use of more natural products, such as a massaging sugar scrub and moisturizing paraffin that make hands smooth and healthy.

He said his salon will be special because there is nothing else like it in the area. He also said he is very open to what the public asks for.

The decision to open a second salon stemmed from customer demand, he explained. "When you have to turn business away, it's time to expand," Repass said.

Tran also wanted to create a pampering, spa-like atmosphere.

The new location has separate rooms for manicures and pedicures, as well as another room for gifts.

For specialized nails, Tran offers stiletto nails, gels, and acrylics, and the salon can do extensive nail art, such as creating 3D flowers on the nails.

The salon offers basic manicures, hand detail, and polishing as well as basic pedicures, foot detail, and polish in addition to acrylic and gel applications, repair, and maintenance.

The gifts aspect of the salon offers purses, jewelry, scented soaps, scarves, and nail supplies among other products. Tran also creates personalized items such as painted ornaments for the holidays.

Nails are done by appointment, and the salon is open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

The telephone number is 588-5247
