A ribbon-cutting ceremony for Governor's Bend Retirement and Assisted Living was held in Erwin last Friday.

Governor's Bend is located at 1631 Zane Whitson Drive, and is owned and operated by Free Will Baptist Family Ministries (FWBFM).

Festivities began at 11:30 a.m. with remarks by the Rev. Frank Woods, CEO and President of Free Will Baptist Family Ministries; Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, of Blountville; U.S. Rep. Phil Roe, R-1st, of Johnson City, and other dignitaries.

"Today was a great step forward in Family Ministries' service to all ages," said Woods in a news release.

"We are honored to be a part of the Town of Erwin and look forward to a lasting partnership in caring for the senior citizens of this area."

Governor's Bend is a 48,000-square-foot facility that consists of 52 suites featuring three different layout options.

It offers many amenities such as a library, spa, beauty salon, barber shop, chapel, wireless Internet, cable television, one-floor living, private mail boxes, 24-hour emergency assistance, and dining services.
