After more than a decade serving as a popular lodging site in Greeneville, the Jameson Inn has now become the Quality Inn, a brand that belongs to lodging giant Choice Hotels International (CHI).

Jameson Inn first opened in Greeneville in 2000.

Signage at the location, 3160 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy., situated directly behind Fatz restaurant, displayed the Quality Inn logo for several weeks prior to this week's formal announcement.

In a news release, CHI reported the addition of 46 hotels, all formerly Jameson Inns, to its family of brands.

Under an agreement reached with affiliates of Colony Capital, LLC, including Colony Financial, Inc., and hospitality management company Aimbridge Hospitality, the vast majority of the 46 Jameson Inn properties will now operate under the Quality Inn brand, according to CHI public relations director Sarah Lee.

"Franchisees will see ... reservations coming through in a much more robust fashion because of our reach," Lee said, noting the heavily-marketed ChoiceHotels.com website, as well as an "industry-leading" application (app).

She indicated that Quality Inn guests will receive free breakfast and free wireless Internet access.

Some upgrades will be made at the Greeneville location, including painting, new carpeting, new mattresses and bedding, and new multi-function showerheads.

"There will be no major changes because it was a nice property to begin with," Lee said.

With the additional hotels, there are now 1,468 Quality Inn properties internationally, she added.

This is Choice Hotels' largest single conversion transaction, excluding brand acquisitions, according to the release.

"This is a significant addition of hotels to our system and a true testament to the strength of our brands," said Steve Joyce, CHI president and CEO.

Thomas J. Barrack Jr., chairman and CEO of Colony Capital, also praised the new branding in the release.

"While we considered many brands for our hotels, we recognized that Choice is a leader in the mid-scale lodging segment and are delighted to be franchising with them," Barrack said.

Under this agreement, the hotels will be managed by Dallas-based Aimbridge Hospitality.
