Jim Farley has joined Takoma Regional Hospital's expanding outpatient rehabilitation program as a speech therapist.
Farley graduated from the University of Montevallo in Alabama with bachelor's and master's degrees in communication disorders. He completed his internship at the Birmingham Veteran's Affairs Hospital.
"We are excited to have Jim join our team," said Bryan Benedict, manager of Takoma's Center for Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation. "He has more than 10 years of experience, and will provide excellent care for our patients, especially those with dysphagia and communication disorders."
Farley is a certified provider of VitalStim neuromuscular electrical stimulation for dysphagia and has received advanced training in VitalStim therapy.
He also can treat patients with neurologic swallow disorders, such as Parkinson's Disease.
"I also have experience fitting patients with computerized digitized speech devices if their impairments prevent speech," Farley said.
The Center for Outpatient Physical Rehabilitation is at 108 W. Summer St.
