A Chuckey man was charged with multiple offenses following a vehicle pursuit early Thursday through two counties that ended when the driver crashed on Wilhoit Drive, according to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Kenny C. Laws, 29, of Chuckey, was charged with driving under the influence, violation of the implied consent law, possession of a Schedule II drug, reckless endangerment, evading arrest, disregard for traffic, and violations of the seat belt and muffler laws.
Authorities said the pursuit began in Johnson City.
Laws crashed the 1995 Honda Accord he was driving about 4:20 a.m. Thursday, the report said.
Washington County and Greene County sheriff's deputies assisted in the pursuit.
Laws failed to negotiate a left-hand turn on Wilhoit Drive, off Jones Bridge Road, and lost control of the car.
The car went off the right side of the roadway and came to rest on an embankment, the report said.
Laws was not injured. He remained held today in the Washington County Detention Center.
A passenger in the car, 29-year-old Rachael Buckus-Greer, of Greeneville, was cited for public intoxication and evading arrest. She was not injured, the report said.
A second passenger, 18-year-old Slater Wilson, of Chuckey, was not injured, the report said.
An investigation continues.
