Carpenter, Cobble, Ramsey Will Run

More petitions from candidates for the May 6 County Primary Election and the Aug. 7 State Primary Election are appearing at the Greene County Election Commission office on North Main Street.

Two individuals filed this week to run in the Republican primary for the County Commission.

Pamela B. Carpenter, of 625 Cedar Creek Cave Road, Greeneville, has filed a petition to run for election in the 5th Commissioner District.

This district includes the precincts of Caney Branch, Debusk, Middle School and South Greene.

Jason Cobble, of 3270 Snapps Ferry Road, Afton, has filed a petition to run for election in the 3rd Commissioner District.

This district includes the precincts of Tusculum North, Tusculum South, Tusculum Corporation, Tusculum View and East View.

There have also been two petitions filed for the Aug. 7 State Democratic Primary Election.

Marjorie Ramsey, of 2295 Highway 160, Newport, has filed two petitions -- one to run for election to the Tennessee House of Representatives' 11th District seat and another to run for Democratic State Executive Committeewoman in the 1st Senatorial District.

The House of Representatives' 11th District includes a small portion of Greene County, as well as Cocke and Jefferson counties.

Ramsey was defeated in the 2012 election for this post by state Rep. Jeremy Faison, of Cosby, a Republican.

Ramsey is currently serving as the Democratic State Executive Committeewoman for the 1st Senatorial District.

Petitions are available at the Greene County Election Commission Office.
