Seven registered Angus cows and two registered Angus calves were stolen between 7:30 and 8 p.m. Tuesday from a field in the 1600 block of East Stagecoach Road in the Caney Branch community, sheriff's Deputy David Love said in a report.
The victim, who lives on Whirlwind Road, told deputies Wednesday that someone cut the fence on the property and removed the cows and calves from his field.
A witness told deputies that he saw "what he thought was a black Ford delivery truck with a black rusty cattle trailer loading the cattle," the report said.
The trailer had a wooden board attached to one side, the report said.
There are numbered tattoos on the ears of the stolen animals, the report said.
The Angus cows are valued at $2,000 each. The calves are worth $1,000 each.
Damage to the five-strand barbed wire fence totals $200, the report said.
The theft of the animals remains under investigation.
