The George Clem Multicultural Association (GCMA) will host the 8th of August Freedom Day Celebration on Saturday, Aug. 4.
The 149th Celebration will be held at John J. Jones Memorial Park in front of the George Clem Operations Center on Floral St.
Starting at noon with an opening ceremony, the celebration will then continue with many activities for kids and adults.
There will be games, train rides, inflatables, and a petting zoo along with vendors selling foods, crafts, and a wide variety of merchandise.
The afternoon's program will include Crystal Montgomery's popular portrayal of Minerva Clem, the presentation of the GCMA scholarships to this year's winners, open mike opportunities, a talent show, and a free Zumba dance class taught by certified instructor Amber Sams.
Different performances will also be given by praise dance teams from area churches, and the afternoon's entertainment will conclude with a performance by the locally popular "JB and the Honey Beans."
Evening activities will begin at 7 p.m. with several musical acts and culminate in an old school and pop performance by one of the Tri-Cities' top bands, "Unlimited," promoted by In-House Productions.
