Allens Bridge Road To Close At River For About 4 Weeks

West Allens Bridge Road over the Nolichucky River will be closed for approximately four weeks beginning Monday, March 4.

"Motorists should follow alternate routes and adjust their travel times accordingly," Mark Nagi, Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesman, said in a news release.

Over the four-week period, construction crews will build approaches to tie into the new bridge. Once the work is complete, traffic will be moved to the new bridge, Nagi said.

Following the closure, the contractor will begin removing the existing bridge, and is expected to complete the project by Oct. 31.

For travel and TDOT construction information, visit the TDOT SmartWay website at http://www.tn.gov/tdot/tdotsmartway/ or download the new TDOT SmartWay mobile app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for Android.

Travelers can also dial 511 from any land-line or cell phone for travel information or TDOT on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/TN511 for statewide travel information.
