West Allens Bridge Road over the Nolichucky River will be closed for approximately four weeks beginning Monday, March 4.
"Motorists should follow alternate routes and adjust their travel times accordingly," Mark Nagi, Tennessee Department of Transportation spokesman, said in a news release.
Over the four-week period, construction crews will build approaches to tie into the new bridge. Once the work is complete, traffic will be moved to the new bridge, Nagi said.
Following the closure, the contractor will begin removing the existing bridge, and is expected to complete the project by Oct. 31.
