Another defendant in the alleged embezzlement case involving Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co. was formally charged last month, Greeneville police Detective Lt. David Crum said.
Angela N. Mullett, of Silver Cemetery Road, in Flag Pond, Unicoi County, turned herself in on Jan. 20 and was charged with theft over $10,000 but less that $60,000, Crum said.
Bond for Mullett was set at $30,000.
More than 20 defendants in the case, which involves the alleged embezzlement of about $580,000 from Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance Co., have been charged.
All defendants, including Mullett, will appear March 31 for arraignment in Greene County Criminal Court.
The money was taken from Farmer's Mutual in 2012 in what investigators describe as a check-cashing scheme.
An investigation began in December 2012 by the Greeneville Police Department that also involved the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. It resulted in November 2013 indictments.
