Honors keep rolling in for The Band Perry.
The group's No. 1 country single, "If I Die Young," has been certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Platinum status is for sales exceeding one million units, according to the RIAA website.
The song was written by the band's lead singer, Kimberly Perry.
"This song is about hope and contentment," said Perry, in the music industry publication, Music Row. The article was published online at http://www.musicrow.com.
"Fans seem to have taken this song to heart as a positive reminder to appreciate each day you're given," she added. "Every night we sing this song, it's a reminder to us as well -- we couldn't be more grateful for this response."
Perry and her brothers Reid and Neil make up The Band Perry, which is on the Republic Nashville recording label.
The Perrys are the children of Greeneville pediatrician Dr. Steve Perry and his wife, Marie.
On Wednesday, the band performed "If I Die Young," on ABC television's "The View." The group's performance on the show can be viewed online on WIVK-FM's website, http://www.wivk.com.
The song has also scored a 2011 Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Song. The 53rd annual Grammy Awards show will be broadcast on Feb. 13, at 8 p.m., on CBS.
Other Grammy nominees in the Best Country Song category include George Strait for "The Breath I Take," Zac Brown Band for "Free," Miranda Lambert for "The House That Built Me," Gretchen Wilson for "I'd Love To Be Your Last," and Lady Antebellum for "Need You Now."
Here are the lyrics for the song, "If I Die Young":
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Uh oh (uh oh)
Lord make me a rainbow, I'll shine down on my mother
She'll know I'm safe with you when she stands under my colors
Oh and life ain't always what you think it ought to be
No, ain't even gray, but she buries her baby
The sharp knife of a short life
Well I've had just enough time
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
The sharp knife of a short life
Well I've had, just enough time
And I'll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom
I'm as green as the ring on my little cold finger
I've never known the lovin' of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand
There's a boy here in town says he'll love me forever
Who would have thought forever could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life
Well I've had just enough time
So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls
What I never did is done
A penny for my thoughts
Oh no, I'll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I'm a goner
And maybe then you'll hear the words I been singin'
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin'
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
Uh oh (uh, oh)
The ballad of a dove (uh, oh)
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep 'em in your pocket
Save them for a time when you're really gonna need them
Oh, the sharp knife of a short life
Well I've had just enough time
So put on your best boys and I'll wear my pearls
