A man who allegedly became rowdy and fought with an off-duty Greeneville police officer Friday night at Applebee's restaurant was scheduled to appear today in Greene County General Sessions Court.
Daniel Trent Lane, 28, of 1219 Tanglewood Drive, was charged with assault on an officer, resisting arrest and public intoxication at the restaurant at 2771 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy.
Officer Walter Dolittle said in a report he was at the restaurant to eat when he heard "yelling" and saw several Applebee's employees "trying to restrain a belligerent male."
Dolittle approached and identified himself as a police officer. Lane allegedly refused to comply with the officer's directions "so I placed his arm behind his back, and took him to the ground," the report said.
Lane allegedly "continued to try to bite, kick and punch me until other officers arrived on scene," the reports said.
"(Lane) refused to comply with verbal commands from uniformed officers," continued to struggle and refused to "cuff up," the report said.
"I deployed the taser and delivered a 'drive stun' to effect the arrest," the report said.
Lane was allegedly intoxicated to the point of being a danger to himself and others, the report said.
He allegedly continued to be "combative" with officers after being taken to the Greene County Detention Center, according to the report.
Bond for Lane was set at $2,300.
