An Afton man said 10 Holstein calves he owned were poisoned earlier this month on his property in the 300 block of Meadow Brook Road.

Between Jan. 14 and 15, "someone fed his calves corn and fertilizer, killing them," a report by sheriff's Deputy Jimmy Willett said.

Someone also cut the left front tire on the property owner's four-wheeler vehicle, the report said.

The calves weighed 300 to 400 pounds each and have a total value of $5,700.

Damage to the tire totals $100.

The incident was reported on Jan. 22.

The victim told deputies "people that live in the area were mad because mud was washing onto the roadway," the report said.
