Ricky Lynn Norton, 49, of 118 Morgan Branch Road, Chuckey, was charged Friday night with driving under the influence-sixth offense, Tusculum police Chief Danny Greene said in a report.
Norton was also charged with driving on a revoked license-seventh offense.
Officers saw a Ford Ranger pickup truck "weaving" on the Erwin Highway and stopped the truck on Harlan Street.
Norton had slurred speech, bloodshot eyes and an odor of alcohol, the report said. There was an open beer can on the floorboard and more cans of beer in a bag in the truck, the report added.
"He stated that he had been drinking," the report said.
Norton performed poorly on a limited field sobriety test, the report said.
A records check showed he had five previous DUI charges and had been charged six times for driving on a revoked license.
The records check showed that Norton's driver license has been revoked since 1991. He was last charged with DUI in January 2011 in Greene County, the report said.
Norton was held on no bond pending a first scheduled General Sessions Court appearance today.
