Crape Myrtle At The Mansion

Sun photo by Amy Rose

Colorful crape myrtle is in bloom in locations across Greeneville and Greene County, including this site along West Church Street, near the Dickson-Williams Mansion. Crape myrtle, according to Wikipedia, is the common name for Lagerstroemia, a plant genus named after the Swedish merchant Magnus von Lagerström. Crape myrtle normally blooms in the summer in shades of white, red, pink or purple. Often, it is used to beautify residential or commercial landscaping.
