Dan Armstrong And Ed Kershaw To Address County GOP Monday

Originally published: 2014-01-04 01:04:00

The Greene County Republican Party meet at 6 p.m., Monday, in the upstairs courtroom of the Greene County Courthouse.

The speakers at the meeting will be the Republican candidates for the office of Third Judicial District Attorney General: Asst. Dist. Atty. Dan Armstrong and attorney Ed Kershaw.

Armstrong and Kershaw are the only two announced candidates for the position in the Republican Primary Election later this year.

Asst. Dist. Atty. Cecil Mills is the only announced candidate for the position in the Democratic Primary Election.

The winners of the two primaries will face each other in the General Election in August.

The Third Judicial District includes Greene, Hamblen, Hawkins and Hancock counties.

Incumbent District Attorney General Berkeley Bell is retiring after the end of his current term and is therefore not a candidate. Bell has held the office since the early 1980s.

A brief question-and-answer period will follow the men's presentations.
