The Greeneville Civil Service Board released one candidate's name for the position of Detective Captain in the Greeneville Police Department.

During a brief meeting at Greeneville Town Hall on Thursday, board members voted unanimously in favor of David Crum, as he was the top candidate on the promotion eligibility list.

Current Detective Capt. Beth Dyke is retiring Feb. 7.

City Administrator Todd Smith will be asked to approve Crum for the position.

Civil Service Board members acknowledged that Crum is a candidate in the race for Greene County Mayor.

If Crum is elected to that position, Greeneville Police Chief Terry Cannon will return to the Civil Service Board and ask that another name be released from the promotion list.

The next meeting of the Civil Service Board is scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6 p.m.
