The Dogwood Park concert series begins on Sunday, May 26, with a lineup of The Dugger Band, The Willi and Madison Metcalf.
This is the fifth consecutive year that the Greeneville Parks and Recreation Department has presented the series of free concerts.
Dogwood Park, located behind Tusculum View Elementary School, features the outdoor Ginny Kidwell Amphitheater.
The picturesque park will be the venue for a series of public concerts that run through September.
The concerts will include local talent as well as regional and national artists.
The concerts are themed to include numerous styles of today's music, a news release said.
The Dogwood Park concerts are family-friendly events, and there is a playground for children adjacent to the park.
Music starts at 4 p.m. Concert-goers can arrive early and bring a blanket or chair for extra comfort.
New lighting made possible by the Greeneville Light & Power System's Round-Up Program has upgraded the park's lighting, making for a more comfortable and safer concert experience when the music continues after dark, the news release stated.
Also on the drawing board for Dogwood Park is a permanent concession stand which will include restrooms.
Parking has also been addressed with the addition of a parking field adjacent to the concert area. Handicap parking is available, but most parking is on grassy terrain.
THE DUGGER BAND
The Dugger Band is in the midst of kicking off a summer tour called "The Journey," and the May 26 show will be playing all over the Southeast, the news release said.
Their Christmas Show, called, "The Gift," was a sellout at the Niswonger Performing Arts Center and provided the inspiration for this summer's tour.
The Willi is a true family band.
Walter is the oldest, and is enrolled in college. According to the release, he works hard to find time to continue to play in shows.
He, his brother and two sisters sing and play their music.
Family vocal harmonies along with their musical talents give this group a totally unique sound, the news release says.
Madison Melcalf is the 8-year-old daughter of Brad and Paige Peters and Kevin and Melinda Metcalf.
She is the 2011 and 2012 AG's (American Greetings) Got Talent People's Choice Winner and 2012 Miss Baileyton La Petite.
She is also a member of the Community Children's Chorus of Greeneville and a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Afton, where she sings in the adult and children's choirs.
