Greeneville artist Joe Kilday, shown on the scissor-lift aerial work platform, was busy working last week on a mural on the back side of Main Street Place, at the corner of Main and Summer streets. The mural honors tobacco and the impact it and The Austin Company have had on Greene County’s economy. This particular project is being painted by Kilday and Mike Durham as part of “Windows to the Past,” a project that plans large murals depicting important facets of Greeneville’s history on a number of downtown properties. The murals are designed not only to add visual beauty to the Historic District but to bring to the district a touch of nostalgia, and pleasant memories of a bustling downtown.
