Ronnie B. Clawson, of 86 Freshour Park, Chuckey, was charged Sunday with driving under the influence and a felony count of reckless endangerment when it was discovered his 3-year-old son was asleep in the car that was pulled over, Tusculum police Chief Danny Greene said in a report.
Clawson, 31, was also charged with driving with a revoked license.
Police received a telephone call from a volunteer firefighter stating that a vehicle he was following on Chuckey Highway was driving erratically.
Greene arrived on the scene and saw the car driven by Clawson stop at Chuckey Highway and Chuckey Ruritan Road, back up and nearly go off an embankment, the report said."
The driver was "incoherent," unsteady on his feet and admitted to drinking a pint of whiskey and taking other medication, the report said.
The 3-year-old "was asleep on a car seat in the rear seat of the vehicle," the report said.
Clawson gave conflicting reports of where he had been before the car was stopped, the report said.
His driver license was found to be revoked for failure to satisfy citations in Greene County, the report said.
Bond was set at $12,000.
