A Johnson City woman who went to the state Driver Service Center on Hal Henard Road Thursday afternoon to conduct some business ended up in handcuffs instead.
Dawn C. Reeves, 31, of 6349 Kingsport Hwy. Johnson City, was charged with driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officers received a call about "a drunk" and found Reeves in the driver's seat of her car in the parking lot, a report by Officer Roy Milton said.
Reeves' speech was slurred and she was unsteady on her feet. She performed poorly on field sobriety tests, the report said.
"She did state to me she drove there," the report said.
Reeves had a bottle containing alprazolam, a drug used to treat anxiety and panic disorders.
A 90-pill prescription had just been filled "and 24 were missing" from the bottle, the report said.
A straw and Subutex, used to treat dependence on narcotic drugs, were found in Reeves' purse, the report said.
Bond was set at $2,000, pending a General Sessions court appearance today.
