The house was heavily damaged by the fire. No injuries were reported.
Volunteers from DeBusk, Orebank and Caney Branch fought the fire. Also on scene was Greene County-Greeneville EMS.
The fire was called in at 6:53 a.m. The cause remains under investigation.
Ryan Holt, chief of the Greene County Association of Volunteer Fire Departments and former Caney Branch chief, said the extreme cold hindered efforts of firefighters. Two fire trucks malfunctioned at the scene. Water pumps froze on one of the trucks, Holt said.
Firefighters were still at the scene shortly before 9 a.m.
