A man and a woman escaped injury early today after someone apparently started a fire inside a mobile home at 560 Briar Patch Lane, sheriff's Deputy Jeff Caudill said in a report.
The fire was called in about 12:30 a.m.
The 24-year-old occupant said she and a friend were asleep in the mobile home "and were awakened first to the sound of a window opening, then slamming closed," the report said.
The occupant and friend investigated and found a kitchen window "open a few inches," the report said. They closed the window and went back to bed.
"A few minutes later, they heard the same noise again and also saw a light flickering down the hall and ran into the kitchen to find the drapes on fire and that end of the mobile home engulfed in flames," the report said.
A possible male suspect is named in the report. The fire remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Department.
Estimated damage to the mobile home is $5,000.
