Former Employee Of Market Charged In Lottery Theft Case

A former Blue Springs Market employee was arrested Saturday in connection with the alleged theft of lottery tickets from the business, sheriff's Detective Lt. James Randolph said in reports.

Jodie Easterly, 35, of 4820 Gap Creek Road, was charged with two counts of theft under $500. She was working at the Mosheim business when the thefts occurred, reports said.

On Dec. 21, lottery tickets worth $274 were taken.

On Dec. 22, tickets valued at $268 were taken.

The owner of the business, at 8235 W. Andrew Johnson Hwy., contacted the Sheriff's Department in early January and told detectives "that he noticed someone had been taking lottery tickets from the store without paying," an earlier report said.

A review of the store security videotape showed the employee "had been taking tickets and cashing out the winning tickets," the report said.

Video "shows her taking tickets from the counter and not paying [for them]," the report said.

Bond for Easterly was set at $1,000. Her first scheduled court appearance was today in General Sessions Court.
