A man sought in connection with three September burglaries of Greene County houses was picked up Monday morning on multiple arrest warrants, sheriff's Deputy Chuck Humphreys said in a report.
John D. Waddell, 23, of 7340 Newport Hwy., is charged with three counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of theft over $500, theft over $1,000 and evading arrest, the report said.
Waddell was apprehended in the area of a Dollar General Store on U.S. 11E, the report said.
On Sept. 19, Waddell allegedly eluded deputies who saw him outside the Quality Inn on East Andrew Johnson Highway.
Waddell fled on foot after deputies ordered him to stop, the report said.
In separate reports, sheriff's Detective Sgt. William J. Davis said Waddell is allegedly responsible for house burglaries on Kingsport Highway, Stone Dam Road and Old Stage Road.
In all three burglaries, Waddell allegedly stole jewelry and other items and then sold the jewelry at local businesses, reports said.
Waddell was held on no bond pending a first scheduled General Sessions Court appearance on Wednesday.
