Homeowner On Simpson St. Chases Away Robbery Suspects

Stolen goods from several addresses in the 200 block of Simpson Street were recovered by Greeneville police after a pair of suspects were chased away by a homeowner about 2 a.m. Saturday.

A man living in the block told Officer James Craft that he saw two young men and a young woman "pulling a trash can and a green push mower."

The man told police "he called out to the individuals and they ran away on foot," a report said. The man chased the trio to the community center on Simpson Street and lost sight of them.

Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

Further investigation showed that, in addition to the green push mower, other possessions had been taken in the neighborhood, including a red Toro push mower, a self-propelled lawn mower, and a black ceramic dog.

Items recovered by Greeneville police include the lawn mowers, a Dalmatian dog statue, a "dog statue flower pot," a "rooster/dog" statue, a black bear statue, a frog statue, a small Tennessee flag, and a green Weedeater brand leaf blower.

Some of the property was returned to owners. Other items are in storage at the Greeneville Police Department.
