Anyone interested in helping Second Harvest Food Bank can easily do so.

Monetary donations are always needed and appreciated, but individuals wishing to volunteer their time or donate food are very helpful.

Information about Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee is easy to access online at http://www.netfoodbank.org

The organization can also be reached by calling 423-477-4053.

Monetary donations may be sent to 127 Dillon Court, Gray, TN 37615.

Monetary donations may be specifically earmarked.

To support programs that provide meals to children, earmark the donation for "kids feeding programs."

Those interested in making donations that will specifically impact Greene County can designate their checks as specific to "Greene County."

The money will then be used for those purposes, said Rhonda Chafin, executive director of Second Harvest Food Bank of North East Tennessee.

Auditors restrict the funds for those specific uses, she said.

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee has the highest rating possible -- four stars -- on Charity Navigator, http://www.charitynavigator.org, which evaluates charities on a number of criteria, such as funding used for programming versus funding used for administrative costs and salaries.
