The Town of Greeneville Public Works Department will begin leaf collection next week.
Residents are asked to rake leaves to the edge of their property and not into the street.
Leaves raked in the street can clog the storm drains and also become a safety hazard for motorists. Town of Greeneville ordinances prohibit the raking of leaves into the street.
The leaf vacuum should run by residences once every two to three weeks.
However, the exact schedule will depend on the amount of leaves placed for collection on each route.
Greeneville residents are being asked not to bag leaves during this period of leaf pickup. Leaves should only be bagged from January until October of each year.
BRUSH AND LIMBS
Brush and limbs will not be picked up during the months of November and December, as Public Works personnel will be diverted to leaf collection.
Residents are reminded that, if a tree-trimming company and/or a hired individual trims their trees, they are responsible for the removal of the tree limbs.
The disposal charge should be included in the price charged for trimming one's trees.
