Leaf Collection To Start Oct. 21 In Greeneville

Originally published: 2013-10-11 11:26:25

The Town of Greeneville Public Works Department will begin leaf collection the week of Oct. 21.

Residents are asked to rake leaves to the edge of their property and not into the street.

Leaves raked in the street can clog storm drains and can present a safety hazard for motorists.

Town ordinances prohibit the raking of leaves into the street.

The leaf vacuum should run by each Greeneville residence once every 2 to 3 weeks, although the exact schedule will depend on the amount of leaves placed for collection on each route.

Do not bag leaves during this period of leaf pickup.

Leaves should only be bagged from January through October.

Brush and limbs will not be picked up during the months of November and December, as Public Works personnel will be diverted to leaf collection.

Residents are reminded that if a tree-trimming company or other hired individual trims trees, they are responsible for removal of limbs.

The disposal charge should be included in the price charged for trimming a resident's trees.
