Dwayne A. Benton, 43, of 16 Persimmon Lane, was arrested Sunday and charged with felony counts of reckless endangerment and evading arrest in connection with an incident Friday, sheriff's Deputy Ricky Graham said in a report.
Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving Friday afternoon, and the driver "attempted to flee at a high rate of speed in an attempt to evade arrest" after emergency lights were activated, the report said.
Benton allegedly passed a truck hauling a load of hay across a double-yellow line on a curve, the report said.
After a lengthy pursuit, Benton jumped out of the car he was driving and fled on foot, the report said.
The car's registration came back to a relative, the report said.
A license check showed that Benton's license is revoked in Tennessee for driving under the influence, the report said.
He was also charged with a misdemeanor count of evading arrest and driving on a revoked license.
Bond was set at $22,000 pending a first scheduled General Sessions Court appearance today.
