Terry Lee Owens, 51, of 737 Midway Railroad St., was charged with driving under the influence-fourth offense and other charges following a traffic stop about 8:15 p.m. Saturday on West Andrew Johnson Highway, Greeneville police Officer Joe Prokop said in a report.
Owens was pulled over for driving 75-mph in a 45-mph speed zone, the report said.
Two children, ages 10 and 13, were in the car, the report said.
A loaded .357 magnum handgun was found in the trunk of the car, the report said.
Owens told officers he drank about four beers before the traffic stop. He had a strong odor of alcohol and did poorly on field sobriety tests, the report said.
He has three previous DUI convictions in Greene County, a records check showed.
Owens was charged with two felony counts of reckless endangerment for having the children in the car, the report said.
He was also charged with possession of a handgun while under the influence, driving on a revoked license-third offense, and speeding.
Owens was held without bond on the DUI charge.
His first General Sessions Court appearance was scheduled for today.
