Mickey Lee McLain, 34, of 140 Broad St., was charged Tuesday night with leaving the scene of an accident with injury and other offenses, Greeneville police Officer Chad Ricker said in a report.

McLain was allegedly involved in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on Justis Drive adjacent to the Weigel's sconvenience store at 1401 Tusculum Blvd., and fled the scene, the report said.

A 6-year-old in the other car struck her head against a window, injuring her, the report said.

The extent of the injuries suffered by the child or her condition were not available today.

McLain was located about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment in the 400 block of Elk Street after police received a call to check on his welfare, Officer James Craft said in a report.

McLain "was found asleep on the floor," the report said. He was found to be wanted in connection with the crash earlier Tuesday, it added.

McLain was also charged with driving on a revoked license-second offense, failure to exercise due care, having no proof of insurance, a registration violation and violation of probation-third offense.

"The defendant was operating a vehicle that was involved in a crash by failing to exercise due care," the report said.

McLain was held on no bond pending a first scheduled General Sessions Court appearance today.
