Cody Joseph Kelley, 20, of 3265 Newport Hwy., was charged early today with public intoxication, possession of a Schedule VI drug and possession of drug paraphernalia after Greeneville police investigated a report of a man "slumped over in his vehicle," Officer Josh Pierce said in a report.

Police were called to the Quick Stop Market at 601 Asheville Hwy.. An employee said that he couldn't get Kelley to respond for 45 minutes.

Kelley was found inside the car.

"After several attempts to get him to respond, he finally began to respond," the report said.

Kelley didn't know where he was "and did not know his own name," the report added.

Kelley's speech was slurred. After officers received consent to search his car, a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana and two pipes were found in a console compartment.

Bond was set at $2,300 pending a first scheduled General Sessions Court session today.
