No charges will be filed in connection with a fatal collision about 5:30 a.m. Saturday involving a car and a man walking along Chuckey Pike, Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Billy Cutshall said in a report.

Killed was Victor A. Evans, 48, of Greeneville.

Evans was walking southbound in the 1200 block of Chuckey Pike "approximately three feet out in the lane of travel" when he was struck by a Toyota sedan driven by Kaitlyn J. Shelton, 21, of Oak Grove Road, the report said.

It was dark outside, authorities said.

Evans was wearing a black leather jacket and blue jeans when he was struck by the car, the report said.

It took authorities about 24 hours to identify Evans, who was not carrying identification.

He was pronounced dead at the accident scene.

The THP was assisted by Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Service and the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
