Eric Preston Crawford, 28, of Kite Road, was charged Saturday with driving under the influence and simple possession of marijuana after sheriff's deputies investigated a report of a man "slumped over the steering wheel of a car with a needle sticking out of his arm" at the Woodlawn Community Center, 3360 Horton Hwy.
Greene County-Greeneville Emergency Medical Services responded, and when deputies arrived, Crawford was in an ambulance, Sgt. Glenna Estepp said in a report.
Crawford "admitted to have been shooting up (roxycodone)," and a syringe was found in his car, the report said.
Crawford "was drowsy, sweating and his eyes were bloodshot," the report said.
He was found by EMS personnel on the driver's side of the car. During a search after Crawford's arrest, a small plastic bag containing marijuana was found in a rear pocket, the report said.
Bond was set at $2,000.
