Greeneville police are investigating the alleged assault Monday night of a manager at the Family Dollar store at 2327 E. Andrew Johnson Hwy.
The victim told officers that she fired an employee earlier in the day.
About 7:30 p.m. Monday, a woman entered the store and brought a bottle of bleach to the checkout counter, Officer Josh Pierce said in a report.
The woman asked where the fired employee was, and when she was told she had been fired, "began to get confrontational" and threw the bleach container at the manager, the report said.
The bleach container broke and got on the victim's clothing and eyeglasses.
The woman who allegedly threw the bleach container is the fired employee's mother, the report said.
At that point, according to the report, the fired employee entered the business.
"They then went around the counter and (the mother) began kicking, punching and throwing stuff at (the manager)," the report said. "She managed to kick (her) in the stomach area and hit her with a canister of Wipes on her wrist area, causing discomfort."
The alleged victim was able to push the woman away and get her phone to call 911, the report said.
The two women left the store and the manager locked the door, the report said.
The mother of the fired employee allegedly made further threats to the manager after she was outside the store, the report said.
The manager went outside the store as the women left in two separate vehicles to try and get tag numbers.
"It was at this time that the mother drove her vehicle straight at (the manager) who was on the sidewalk. (She) had to jump behind a brick post because she said she was in fear of her life," the report said.
The incident remains under investigation.
