Man's Remains Found In Break-In Aftermath

Additional possessions stolen between Sunday night and Tuesday afternoon from a house and surrounding campground in the 1000 block of Old Mountain Road were reported missing Wednesday by the owner, sheriff's deputies said in a report.

But a wooden box was located that contained the ashes of the victim's deceased husband, the report said.

The box was initially reported among the stolen items, the report said.

A possible male suspect was also identified by the property-owner.

Items stolen from the house and adjacent property include $2,790 in cash, a .45 caliber handgun, a .38 caliber handgun, a generator, two chain saws and three weed trimmers.

The stolen possessions have a total value of about $5,500.

A witness told deputies that a man was seen coming down the steps of the victim's house. He was accompanied by two other people who were seen behind a laundry room where the generator was located.

The burglary remains under investigation.
