Miss Greater Greeneville will be one of two new titles when the Miss Tennessee Scholarship Pageant re-convenes in Jackson in June 2014, it was announced Sunday afternoon.
Terri Lamons, executive director of the Miss Greene County Scholarship Pageant, has added Miss Greater Greeneville to her pageants.
The new title has been instituted because two other crowns in the area -- Miss Bistrol and Miss TriCities -- will be vacant.
During a telephone interview Sunday afternoon, Lamons said that those two East Tennessee pageants in the Miss Tennessee/Miss America organization will not be crowned this year.
The director of Miss Bristol and Miss TriCities is taking a year off to campaign as her husband runs for political office.
Since two crowns in the area would be vacant, Lamons added the Miss Greater Greeneville title to her list.
She selected Miss Greater Greeneville as the title, since "Greater" indicates a surrounding area.
Like Miss Greene County, the Miss Greater Greeneville Scholarship Pageant will be open to any young woman who is eligible to compete in the Miss Tennessee locals all across the state.
Miss Greene County and Miss Greater Greeneville, along with Lamons' two teen pageants, will all be crowned Oct. 12.
More details will be released later.
