Yokley, Malone, Davenport, Chapman File Election Petitions
More candidates have filed petitions with the Greene County Election Commission for the May 6 County Primary and Charter Commission elections and the Aug. 7 State Primary Election.
There are two more petitions for the County Primary Election.
Eddie Yokley, of 1046 Old Kentucky Road, South, Greeneville, has filed a petition to run for the office of County Mayor.
Yokley served from 1992 until 2004 as Greene County Assessor of Property and as state Representative for the 11th District from 2002-2010.
He will run in the Democratic Primary for this countywide office.
Fred Malone Jr., of 850 Mulberry Road, Greeneville, has filed a petition to run for County Commissioner in the 1st Commission District.
This district includes the precincts of Baileyton, Baileyton Corporation, Woodlawn, Hardins, Lost Mountain, Union Temple, West Pines and Cross Anchor.
Malone is currently serving in his second term as a commissioner from this district.
He will run in the Democratic Primary.
The Election Commission also verified the first petition for the Charter Commission Election.
Ronald Davenport, of 5490 Horton Hwy., Greeneville, has filed a petition to run for the Charter Commission from the 1st County Commission District.
In addition, another petition was filed for the Aug 7. State Primary Election.
Paul Chapman, of 477 Cambridge Circle, Russellville, has filed a petition to run for the office of State Executive Committeeman in the First Senatorial District.
This district includes Greene, Cocke, Hamblen and Sevier counties.
Chapman will run in the Republican Primary.
Petitions are available at the Greene County Election Commission Office, located on North Main Street.
The qualifying deadline for the May 6 County Primary/ Charter Commission Election is noon, Feb. 20.
The qualifying deadline for the Aug. 7 State Primary/County General Election is noon, April 3.
