Members of the George Clem Multicultural Alliance (GCMA) are inviting the community to join the GCMA on Monday, Jan. 21, to celebrate "A National Day of Service" in honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Monday is the 2013 date of the federal and state holiday which honors the life of the famed civil rights leader, who was killed in 1968.
A service project will take place at Tabernacle Mission Soup Kitchen, 715 Wesley Ave., from 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
A GCMA spokesman noted that, "To quote Dr. King, 'Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are you doing for others?'"
The spokesman added:
"An answer to that question could be to help at the Soup Kitchen. Cleanup from this week's flooding is a priority. An inventory of supplies will also be made if enough help is available.
"Everyone is invited to participate for whatever amount of time they can give."
