The new Allens Bridge on West Allens Bridge Road is now open and in use. The former Allens Bridge was built in 1976. That bridge, which has now been replaced, was closed to vehicle traffic for nearly a month while Tennessee Department of Transportation crews built approaches from West Allens Bridge Road onto the new bridge. According to TDOT spokesman Mark Nagi, the entire project is scheduled to be complete by October following the demolition of the older Allens Bridge, which is partially visible at right.
