At the Thursday meeting of the Greeneville City Schools Board of Education, members will consider approving purchase and installation of new carpet in several buildings and the purchase of 190 new computers for student use.

Several other items are also on the agenda for the 7 p.m. meeting, which will be held at the Kathryn W. Leonard Administrative Office on West Depot St.

The board will consider granting approval to policy revisions on first reading. Financial statements for January and an update on the 2013-2014 budget process will also be heard.

SCHOOL CARPETING

Board members will consider approving a request to spend $117,885 from capital improvement funds to purchase and install carpet in several facilities.

Facilities that would benefit include: EastView Elementary School, Tusculum View Elementary School, Hal Henard Elementary School, Greeneville Middle School, the Greeneville High School band room, and, possibly, the Kathryn W. Leonard Administrative Office.

NEW COMPUTERS

The board will also consider approval of purchase of 190 new computer systems to replace aging devices currently in use.

The agenda states that 190 systems, if approved, would be purchased at a cost of $110,336. Funds are included in the 2012-2013 budget for the project.

POLICY REVISIONS

Board members will consider several policy revisions on first reading.

Policies to be considered relate to changes in state law regarding the required age of enrollment for kindergarten students, staff development opportunities, attendance of non-resident students, and transfers within the system.
