Travelers on the east side of Greeneville will soon be greeted with a new traffic signal on U.S. 11E.
The traffic signal is located at the intersection of the Walmart SuperCenter and where the new Consumer Credit Union building entrance will be,.
The signal is set to be activated Thursday, according to a news release provided by the Town of Greeneville.
In addition, a deceleration lane at the location has been put in place for west-bound travelers, and the acceleration lane for east-bound travelers has been removed.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation requires that all new signal lights "flash" for at least seven days before being activated.
Currently, the light is flashing yellow for traffic traveling on U.S. 11E and red for traffic coming from the Walmart entrance across from the new Consumer Credit Union entrance.
All motorists are advised to proceed cautiously through this area until they are familiar with the new traffic signal configuration.
