Artist Nicholas "Nic" Hankins will host an oil painting workshop from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, located at 1121 Shiloh Road in Greeneville.
Enrollment is open to everyone over the age of 15.
No prior painting experience is necessary.
"Painting has enriched my life in so many ways and given me a greater appreciation for Mother Nature," Hankins said in a press release. He added, "If you enjoy watching Bob Ross paint impressive landscapes on Public Television and have entertained the notion of trying his method, there is no time like the present for investing in yourself and discovering a fantastic new hobby."
Hankins' class is structured as a one-day workshop in which all students paint along in a step-by-step method with the instructor, focusing on one subject.
Each will complete a painting in about six hours.
All necessary supplies are included in the tuition fee of $75 (plus tax) per student.
Hankins earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with a concentration in painting at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in the spring of 2005.
He garnered teaching credentials with Alexander Art Corporation in October 1998, Grumbacher Art in August 2011 and Bob Ross, Inc., in December 2011.
Hankins has taught painting classes throughout East Tennessee and at a number of national painting seminars.
