Ornament By Hankins Features Dickson-Williams Mansion

Photo Special to the Sun

Tennessee First Lady Crissy Haslam holds the Christmas ornament designed by Greeneville photographer Jerry Hankins, just prior to hanging it on the Governor's Residence Christmas tree. The historical custom-brass ornament features the Dickson-Williams Mansion in Greeneville.

Gov. Bill Haslam and First Lady Crissy Haslam are proudly opening their executive residence to Tennesseans through Dec. 14 in their Second Annual Christmas Open House.

One of the ornaments on the residence Christmas tree has been designed by well-known Greeneville photographer Jerry Hankins.

The historical custom-brass Christmas ornament features the Dickson-Williams Mansion, and was the second of Hankins' limited edition ornaments.

One day at a meeting of the Greeneville Kiwanis Club, Hankins was talking with state Rep. David Hawk and said, "Wouldn't it be neat to have a Greeneville ornament on the Governor's Christmas tree?"

As they say, the rest is history.

Hawk, R-5th, of Greeneville, hand-delivered the ornament to the Haslams, and Greeneville is indeed represented on the family tree.

Hankins told The Greeneville Sun he only has a few ornaments left at Carolyn's Hallmark and Three Blind Mice for $22.
