Runoff from this week’s prolonged rainfall and heavy, wet snow continues to create havoc for the Greene County Road Department. Road Superintendent David Weems, shown at left near the truck, said Friday afternoon that he expected a Friday afternoon mud slide along the shoulder of Green Mountain Road in the Camp Creek community to keep department workers busy for several hours. He said he planned to complete shoring up the shoulder by dark for the safety of tractor-trailers traveling the road to Valk Industries, which is seen pictured in the background. Weems anticipated that it would take between 12 and 15 loads of stone (about 300 tons) to fill in the hole, which was 50 to 60 feet long and 5 to 6 feet deep.
