Union Temple Free Will Baptist Church was a bustling place on Wednesday afternoon, as volunteers from 17 local churches prepared Thanksgiving meals in assembly-line fashion. The completed meals were either boxed and delivered to homes across the county or picked up by persons at the church. The annual meal effort was organized by the United in Love Ministry, a combined effort of local churches, mostly in northern Greene County. A similar outreach, called the Greene County Outreach Thanksgiving Meal, will be taking place today at Cedar Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 4170 Newport Hwy. Carry-out Thanksgiving Dinners and meals in a dining room at the church will be available after 11 a.m. Fifteen to eighteen churches of all denominations are working together on the annual outreach.
