A two-day AARP safe driving course is being offered at Takoma Regional Hospital on Wednesday and Thursday.
"This is an informative class on defensive driving techniques for those drivers age 50 and older," said Renee Lowery, Takoma Volunteer director, in a news release.
"Not only can you learn helpful tips for safe driving; this class is an easy way to receive discounts on your auto insurance," Lowery said.
There are no written or driving tests, but participants must attend both days of the class to receive credit, she noted.
The class will be taught in the Everett and Carolyn Coolidge Volunteer Conference Center at the intersection of Coolidge Street and Takoma Avenue on the hospital campus from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days. A complimentary lunch will be provided at the Takoma Café.
AARP members who bring membership cards on Wednesday can take the class for $12. If cards have been lost, membership numbers can be obtained by calling 1-888-687-2277.
If no membership number is provided, the cost is $14. Checks should be made payable to AARP and are due on the first day of the class.
